What this inquiring mind wants to know, with _Beguilement_ as the subject,
not _Passage_, is why Fawn's mother and aunt didn't warn her about Sunny?
Sure, Fawn was young--but if she'd known that Sunny's marriage to Violet was
arranged and had been for years, she'd probably have made a different choice at
that wedding party. Apparently both Trill and Nattie knew about Sunny and
Violet. Trill suspected that Fawn was interested in him, and Nattie knew that
they'd been meeting--her comment that Sunny had always thought that since she
couldn't see him, she couldn't hear him, either, showed that. So--why
didn't either of them tell her what Sunny's situation was? Did they think she was
so irresponsible that knowing he already had his life mapped out and it
didn't include Fawn wouldn't have made any difference to her? Or did they think
she was too young to be serious about a male at 18? It seems to me that they
shirked their duty to her, there. It might be argued that they assumed she
wouldn't have gone so far as to have s*x, but even if she hadn't, she'd have
been badly hurt, and her family didn't seem to be doing anything in the way
of damage control.
