A blind weaver would seem to have
some difficulty doing anything more complicated than very basic stuff,
unless someone else was helping with the loom, a lot.
As a onetime weaver, I'm not so sure. I had a sectional warp beam which I understand was also used in cottage weaving in Highland crofts as it could be warped out of the loom, you could have several etc etc. The ease certainly spoiled me for the other more common system.
What I'm getting at is, once you had learned a system you could probably sort it out on your own. Might take longer, but Nattie had all the time in the world. I'm pretty much in awe of what blind people do as a matter of course, so I can accept Nattie's adept weaving easier than I can the speed with which Fawn can spin cotton on a spindle and knit a pair of socks for her ungrateful Mother in law. Maybe she didn't ply it- must go back and check.
