I often wear a surgical mask to bed when I'm getting/having/recovering from a cold. A personal mister with lavender water is also something I use quite often, but the effect may be more placebo than anything else..

All your clothing tips were so familiar from growing up on the prairies,

I also agree about the humidifier. If you have a forced-air furnace, you
may have a humidifier as an add-on. If not, running a humidifier makes a
big difference. We run ours from mid-November to end of February/
mid-March. I'd recommend a warm-mist one, though: the cool-mist ones have
been shown to spread bacteria especially if you don't change the water
every day. Boiling the water is much healthier.

Isn't it cool that we can live on either sides of the world and have
things in common!
