[LMB] OT: Perhaps a useful phrase for the listserv?

The = sign that you were using showed up with embedded encoded extraneous 
garbage characters in Webmail.... and even without the embedded garbage 
characters, doesn't work for me for emphasis, it looks like words in betwee 
the equal signs, grew whiskers and needs shaving....

I don't like the way the underline characters look bracketing a word,
so I tend to use =equals signs= for emphasis.
