Chaos/), and the father we rarely see (The Witches of /Karres/, 
/Podkayne of Mars/)

There's an occasional princess with a living father.

Oh, Barbara Hambly has a book (/Stranger at the Wedding/) where a minor 
character in some of her earlier books goes home where she was once her 
father's pride and joy before she took up magic - when her younger 
sister is preparing to get married in a wedding designed to give her 
father more social status.
