[LMB] AKICOTL: ASME to ISO

Sorry I've always had to work with both systems so I don't have a reference.
It was just pounded in by profs in the late 1980s while at university.  The
main difference I've noted is the tolerances come out slightly different
because most ISO have ranges in mm which usually make for more accuracy than
the inches ones (which are usually stated in fractions of inches).  ISO
seems to work much better for tiny parts.  Also if you need to meet ISO
standards for EU marketed products, the inches are a problem because all the
standards are in metric.

 

I represent the US on some ISO, ANSI  and ASTM groups and all their staff is
helpful so if you need something about a specific area one of those groups
may can help. I'm in medical devices myself if that is of any help.
