Depends on the goals and resources. Does the invader have more people and
GDP than JW? Are you trying to establish an embargo, or take over the
planet and stomp out everything you don't like? How hard are Jacksonians
going to fight in the face of superior force, vs. looking out for number
one? Can you bribe many of them away, or get the support of those already
At one extreme, you have Barrayar trying to take over, and Jacksonians
fighting for freedom and the Deal. At the other, you have a Ceta-Beta-other
coalition clearing space, bombarding dangerous planetary installations, and
embargoing planetside trade, with most of the locals who aren't in immoral
businesses scrambling to get things in shape enough to be allowed off again.
