Hm... IIRC, nuclear fuel rods immersed in deep water pools can
still cast the glow *caused* by the Cerenkov radiation further than the
minimum safe distance. So eating or reading by the light of Cerenkov
radiation isn't necessarily a (very) hazardous action.
