There are people who tell women/minorities/etc not to take X classes, or
try to scare them out of classes they are already taking.   Not everyone,
but enough to make a difference.

The Philosophers have recently discovered that they have a  woman problem -
that is, the male philosophers are so discovering, the women knew it
already, and were afraid to talk about it.
