All of the many allergies make life very difficult like anaesthetics , any sulphur based drugs, barbiturates - food stuffs like onions, garlic, bacon, pork , ham etc, etc ,etc 

Many of the drugs used to treat diabetes I'm allergic to and many antibiotics - even plain old cough syrup. 

Helen - wondering suspiciously how an Anglo family ended up with a form of porphyria common to the Boers of South Africa.
