Banks of frozen bodies, in a thumbnail, won't look like anything. 
A chrysanthemum for WhiteChrys, or that ghastly spider, would be
eyecatching. A coffin is a bit gruesome.  One of Jen's chickens? a

The kitten tree (or better, one fruit on the tree) would be good for 
Cetaganda - it's eye-catching, it symbolises all the bizarre gene-twitching
 going on, and it's a defining moment for Ivan; he's the guy who rescues
 kittens. Without hesitation. (Miles is Daring Rescues, Ivan's rescues are 
from the heart.)

For Komarr, a domed city. Or a breath mask.
