Markus seems to remember a little story about WW2 where Britain asked some
"adventurous elder citizens" with cataract operations to ride submarines
to spot the ultraviolet marker signals for commando units waiting to be
picked up again ..
He may well remember a story (these authors will write anything) but the
first implant of an intraocular lens did not take place until 1949.
I doubt, but cannot find references, that earlier cataract surgery
affected colour sensitivity.
