I like series of movies or books, especially long series, and I'm greatly in
favour of chronological order.  That way there are no spoilers (except for
those who see them out of order), and actors can age more or less naturally.

This means, for the Vorkosigan series, starting with Shards of Honour, which
I think is a good choice. and not just because it's one of my favourite
novels, and the place I started the series. It has plenty of action
(especially for those who like space ships and interplanetary war), an
interesting plot, an introduction to the societies of Barrayar and Beta
Colony, and a nice mystery plot.
