I vote for "story" -- the "novel" and "novella" thing are confusing. NaNo defines a
novel at 50,000 words. So, there's this huge limbo between novella and novel which
most readers don't want to deal with. If anything, people may go in expecting a
short story and be pleasantly surprised to find they have a longish one.

You know, even if you gave us 250,000 words in a story, you'd still have people
thinking it was too short, it ended too soon, more please, more please. Which is
kind of a win in and of itself.
