Objection--while aristocrats may or may not have had more
pseudoscientific medical care as a whole, mercury treatments do not
come under that heading. In the pre-antibiotic era, mercury was the
best available treatment for syphilis, which it did legitimately
treat. It was also mildly poisonous, sure, but so is chemotherapy, and
we don't call that pseudoscience.
