Sylvia: Can anyone rec a good book set in Alaska?

John: Someone beat me to Chabon's *The Yiddish Policemen's Union* ; less
literarily, but just as readably, there's a decent Nora Roberts, *Northern
Lights*.

Jean Craighead George, *Julie of the Wolves*, and its two later sequels,
*Julie* and *Julie's Wolf Pack*, are set on the North Slope.

And if Greenland would be an acceptable substitute, there's a cracking
thriller by Duncan Kyle, *Whiteout*, while back in the day, Willard Price's
last book, *Arctic Adventure* sent Hal and Roger there to befriend a polar
bear and deal with some heinous villain or other.
