Yes, indeed! The "eleventh hour" theme is such a major trope in all sorts of fiction, but "the 12th hour" scenario is so much more likely in real life when things go bad, .

Isn't it interesting that "getting there too late" is such a theme?

It's a very good theme, and one that can transfer to a lot of
different writings (-:.

I think a lot of fiction tends to show the "just-in-the-nick-of-time"
model, which is fun and fine and thrilling. But showing the
"too late" examples adds that extra bit of pathos and poignancy
to a series.
