Vincent Van Gogh was a more productive painter when his illness was more under control. In fact, he painted sunflowers because he was on medication that mitigated some of his symptoms and, as a side effect, also tends to make the color yellow appear more vivid for some reason. A lot of people with mental illness are more creative and more productive when their illnesses are under control. Right now most treatments have side effects that make creativity more difficult because they create a foggy brain, but I'm assuming in the Nexus that won't be the case. If they don't cure it, they will probably have very finely targeted medication/surgery/therapy that will fix the actual problem without creating others to replace it.
