Since Gregor is not a subject, maybe he is a verb. He doesn't get much
time to rest.

When you are looking to buy a house, be careful of the one where trees are planted directly over the line from the water main to the house.

Willows, cottonwoods, mulberries, and other hydrophilic trees LOOOVE waterlines.

Never ever ever plant bamboo in the ground?attempts to eliminate of shoots will never end.

My personal tip:
If there is only one way out of the neighborhood you?re considering, it?s not safe in a disaster.

When I was house hunting in 1997, I was shown a place
?across a two lane road from a forested state park with lots of pines (and not enough redwoods for my taste?that was a couple of miles away)
?one road out of the development, toward said ?main? road?for the listee whose name I forgot, formerly of Santa Cruz, it?s Graham Hill Rd, short of Mt Hermon.
?surrounded by drought-stressed pines which largely shut out sunlight (no sunlight is not good for Marinas)
?cedar shake roofs on every house
?large amounts of dead pine needles everywhere including roofs

and it was a damned ugly interior with a horrid kitchen!

My realtor didn?t understand, aside from dingy paint colors and generally ugly, why it was unacceptable. I pointed out the reasons listed above.

Saw too many canyon wildfires reported while living in LA county?including one that hit an exclusive fates community tucked into a nice cozy canton whose walls were covered with dry grass and chaparral most of the year.

We had a sitter with cystic fibrosis. If anyone in the house were the least bit sick, one of her sisters might be asked if they were available, but *never* Erica.

It?s bad form to kill your child?s sitter by disease.

Oh, Marna, the Birthday Tixie comes rushing in, all full of apologies and excuses . . . and one simple gift.?

The Tixie thought simple little gifts to greet the Winterfair season would be appropriate. So, here is a little brass lamp from a temple stall in Brajar. The light can be easily replaced with LED or whatever you need in a light -- I've restocked the shed behind the Mailing List with anything you could need. From which god? Well, light the tiny lamp and find out -- it will glow with your favorite color or the favorite color of your favorite god.?

Hoping you had many happy returns of the day yesterday!

The Birthday Tixie for December

(If any of you have simple little tiny gift ideas, feel free to add to the list. And December listees who have asked for birthday greetings, if there is anything you should NOT be given that's simple, well, email me, or we can discuss it on the list.)

Hi, guys. I haven't been on the list lately. Two years ago, I resigned from my job, and devoted myself to Better Domes and Gardens, so to speak. Grew pumpkins. Tamed farm kittens. Forgot to get farm kittens spayed. Watched my biological kingdom increase exponentially, and oh, boy, became a passionate spayer and neuterer (well, by proxy) of small cats.?

I've got 14 in my house, and Auntie Milk has six in hers (they are all spayed and neutered and stitches out as of today! Hallelujah! There are still nine -- well, eight as of tonight if all went well -- who still need the job done in my house).?

Carl Sandburg has been crossing my radar quite frequently these days, so when I say the fog crept in on little cat feet, I'm referring to literal cat feet and figurative brain fog.?

I've always been a bit challenged on the concepts of time and space, so I guess thinking I was late when I still have six hours of December 2 is kind of on brand for me.?

I AM delighted that Marna's birthday greetings were sent on the day, though. Am glad to be back, too.

Micki
