I imagine every child in school in Barrayar parroting an oath once a week at assembly, until it starts to mean something. The District Count and the Emperor are up on the wall in the school classrooms, IIRC. Miles was startled to find his own pic  up on the wall in Silvy Vale.

Miles thought the loyalty oath was redundant, since neither academic could have held their current posts without having taken one previously.
