Many jobs are socially destructive and people feel forced into them.
People working for big tobacco or sugar for example. Lawyers working
for wealthy corporations get paid much more than lawyer representing the poor
and middle class.
Then their was the slave trade which made huge fortunes. In fact sex trafficking is
still generating fortunes.
Work, as such, is not necessarily noble. Work that is generally doesn’t pay very well.
