I like deserts. They are fascinating places.

Gwynne: As well as sandy deserts, Australia has gibber deserts; small stones.
It's amazing standing in the middle of a gibber desert, and seeing the land run
flat right to the horizon in every direction (go to Oodnadatta. Interesting place.)
And there's fossils too - of sea creatures. A very long time ago central Australia
was an inland sea - the desert is an ocean floor. Minus the water, of course.
