[LMB] OT: Practice for terraforming Beta Colony on Earthly deserts.

I hope that this won’t get me in more trouble but we can expect more frequent but shorter duration pandemics from now on.
We have more people with greater and faster connectivity than before. Travel times are shorter. Ebola couldn’t have left Africa a century ago.
Crowded living conditions are great for spreading airborne disease. Smallpox and Polio are about the only diseases to be actually eradicated. There is pressure to destroy the last samples but having them destroyed and being sure someone else is not weaponizeing them is likely impossible. There is a reason the SF convention in Albuquerque is called Bubonicon.
Shorter duration looks likely. The evil big pharmaceutical companies produced several vaccines in less than a year. (Skipped comments about different roadblocks from state and nonstate actors. This was worldwide but is considered US politics.)

Christian, husband, father, granddaddy, son, American. Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me.

Basically we have genes for the hunter gatherer lifestyle. Hunter gatherers are probably
smarter than us, they have to know intimately all the flora and fauna in their area and
farming well you just do what everybody else does and genes for immunity are more
important that those for smarts as the population is denser and pathogens find more
opportunities to spread.

Smarts can get you in trouble with the local authorities.

Sig intentionally left blank.
