Depends who is doing the expectation. To a large extent, it was the
expectations of Cordelia that mattered - and because that so mattered to
him, he was able to live up to a lot, overcoming his schizophrenia, even
outwitting the doctors, and becoming a good man.
And Cordelia, being from Beta Colony, had a lot of faither in
medical/chemical interference in mental health, even though she had
ditched her therapist back in "Shards".
So what would you have expected? That he would break conditioning, and
revert to sadism, rape and murder? Or overdependence on a dominant
personality like Ges Vorrutyer?
