I still recall researching for a report in high school and being shocked to
discover that Germany has the population density of Connecticut.

It actually makes certain political aspects of Europe more intuitive to
Americans once we consider how differently the citizens are distributed.
And for predicting the future:  most people will be living in urban
environments.  The more people are squeezed together, the more emphasis on
peace and order, and the less tolerance for disruption.
