The YA novel _A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver_ by E.L. Konigsburg
gives a taste of her life
Gwynne: Another amazing woman, long overdue for some attention, is
Catherine of Aragon. She features in most histories as the impediment to
the marriage of Henry and Anne Boleyn - ahhhh romance (well, for a few
years, anyway.) Catherine is shown to us as old, rigid, angry, hateful, and
an obstacle to the important people in the story.
But she was an amazing woman. She organised successful military
campaigns when Henry was away, busily organised failed ones. She was
loved by the people. She was smart, competent and interesting. Years of
being married to Henry, and a string of failed pregnancies, wore her down.
And then she was treated so badly at the end. But she really needs to be
rediscovered by history.
