"The cells for Eat Just’s product are grown in a 1,200-litre bioreactor
and then combined with plant-based ingredients."
So not entirely meat, and for an unspecified price.
Another company, Future Meat, not actually at market yet but claiming a
low low production cost of only $18 or $30/pound of cultured chicken, also
plans to mixed that with an unspecified amount of plant protein.
My hype senses are tingling.
Both companies are mentioned in the original thread article.
Your article also mentions "The growth medium for the Singapore
production line includes foetal bovine serum" which the thread article
brought up: it's taken from fetuses found in the process of slaughtering
cows, and there's no good synthetic replacement.
Thread article said $18, some news releases I found said $30. And
that's production cost, not retail price. The article also said Future
Meat didn't see any easy ways of getting it cheaper.
