hi to all,
it has been a while since i have delurked. welcome to new people i have missed!
i have just finished the first two and started the 3rd in the Obsidian trilogy. very good! i also like the 500 Kingdoms series so far, though the first one so far was the best. i have Fortune's Fool but haven't had much time to start it as yet. hope it is better than the last one of the 500 Kingdoms series. i really didn't enjoy One Good Knight all that much. thought it was pretty predictable, and but then i have read a good many mythology and fairy tales and caught on to the hits and suggestions in the plot line fairly quickly.
thought the Joust books were pretty good until it went to 4 volumes. seemed the plot got stretched a bit thin into the 4th book and it should have been a trilogy. still the writing and characterizations style is good, and liked the world building, so it kept my interest.
my favorite series is Misty's Valdemar series, and though i can understand her wanting some time away from it to explore other ideas and universes, i hope she does come back to it and perhaps will give us some enlightenment of how Valdemar was founded, and the establishment and early days of the heralds. i also would like to see the legend of Sunsinger, and Windrider Unchained written down in full some time. i also would like to know what really truly happened to Kethry and Tarma after By the Sword.
i am older than you i think, not too far off Mercedes Lackey's age, so i have been a fan ever since i picked up her first book Arrows of the Queen. i also had previously read some of her short stories set in MZB's universes as they were published before her novels were. been a SF/F reader since i was 12, starting off with Andre Norton and Robert Heinlein and others.

*shakes off years of dust*
Of the newer books I've loved the Obsidian Trilogy and
the 500 Kingdoms. Good characters, good pacing and
some overall excellent stories. I didn't like the
Joust books much, they were ok just not what I was
craving from a Misty book at the time.
My first book was Magic's Pawn when I was about twelve
and it got me hooked on the rest of her writing. My
favorites now are the Gryphon books, the Alberich
books, Skif's book and the Magic series. It would
probably be easier for me to list the books that I
didn't like! I've also gotten my husband hooked on
Misty and we argue over who gets to read them first.
Strawberry Marshmallow sheep for all!
Amy
