Are they always checked out to someone else, or does the library not own
them? Your library should have a way to put you on the waiting list, so
they can hold the book for you the next time it comes in. (Mine will let
me put a hold on a book online, even.) If they just don't own the book,
you can suggest that they buy it, or request an Interlibrary Loan where
they borrow it from another library for you. Some libraries charge for
that option; I think mine charges 50 cents minimum, to help pay for the
postage expenses. For things I don't want to own, it's pretty cheap.

Speaking of holds, I've had Aerie on hold at the library, and I just got
the notice that it's in and waiting for me. I do like the online features
of my library. If they've got something on order, but it's not available
to check out, I can still get on the waiting list for it. It's definitely
better than having to remember myself to look for a certain book everytime
I'm there.
