Not to mention the description of the effect of Vanyel's vrondi on mages (as
what happened to Quenten), or, for that matter, the tie in to the Vows and
Honor duology with the "debt" that Rethwellan owed Valdemar.

This is a VERY good tie in book to bring a bunch of loose ends home.

I have to agree; that's one of my favorite books, because not only did it
have my old faves in there (Tarma & Kethry), but it introduced someone who
was a nice mixture of the two (in an odd way).  I also loved the fact that
some of my favorite chars from Valdemar were in there as well (Talia &
Dirk).  I still love that part of the story when Talia brings up the topic
of "Kerowyn's Ride"... I could just about picture the scene!
