[Mercedes-Lackey] Welcome to the Newbies and ..

My first Misty book was Magic's Promise. And what a shock some of that was at 11... (though my first fantasy book was Patricia C. Wrede's Caught in Crystal--still one of my favorite authors).
Recently finished Aerie, and I must agree with some of the previous opinions. Was completely annoyed with Aket-ten through most of it, although Misty did a fantastic clueless Kiron. It felt like the "bad guys" were a little contrived to give one last enemy to face to fulfill the contract for another book, but even Misty's less enjoyable books are still miles better than most others. Looking forward to reading whatever comes next.
And to throw in a little controversy...what do you think of the books written with other authors? I've gotta say I'm enjoying Eric's stories less with Rosemary Edgehill on board (they're quite a bit darker), although I didn't have any problems with Larry Dixon in Elspeth's series. I just find I'm a bit reluctant to pick up those books that she's written with other authors, and very reluctant to carry the hardbacks on the train with me. I'm more willing to wait until I have a period of time and home and don't have to deal with the hassle, as I would with books that Misty's written on her own. Just wondering what you all think.
Yummy brownies to all!
Emily.

For some reason I never read those books...., it seem to me to scary...... which is not my favor topic needless to say...... I think, it is time to pick them up and read.......
My very first book in scie-fie was Misty's "Arrows of the Queen" and to this day never got replaced.....
Talia and Roland hold very special place in my heart, as much as I liked Vanel and Savil and Skif and Camry...., they could not misplace Talia and Roland.....
Misty's "Arrows of the Queen" introduced me to the scie-fie field and MZB that I also like very much as well Anne McCaffrey and others......

Children of the Night was the first I read -- picked up for something
like 50c in a second-hand shop in Vancouver, on my honeymoon -- and may,
in fact, have been the first Lackey I read. As such it still has a place
in my heart, though I think I actually prefer Burning Water as a
story... -- cheers, Mel
