[Mercedes-Lackey] Reserved for the Cat

I've just finished reading "Reserved for the Cat" for the second time
and have a question having to do with the 'theme' of the story. All of
the other Elementals books have been based on fairy tales (i.e., Gates
of Sleep was based on Sleeping Beauty). For the life of me, I cannot
figure out what fairy tale this one is based on! Am I being incredibly
dense? Or is the connection not quite as clear as in the other books?
Thanks for any help in unfogging this for me :)

It had occurred to Nanny Ogg that a husband who was a man all night and
a frog all day might be almost acceptable; you wouldn't get the wage
packet, but there'd be less wear and tear on the furniture. She also
couldn't put out of her mind certain private speculations about the
length of his tongue.
