Not too very long ago I read the most recent books by our favorite
author :) "Reserved for the Cat (Elemental Masters 5)" and "Phonenix
Unchained: Book 1 of the Enduring Flame." 

"Reserved for the Cat" was very good -- taking place, though, well
outside of London and away from the Elemental Masters there. I do want
to see more stories in this alternative England. While each of the books
stands quite well on its own, they all fit together quite well (even
when there are no characters in common). I give this book a 4 out of 5
-- since perfection is well nigh impossible in my world LOL.

"Phoenix Unchained" takes place in the same world at the Obsidian
Mountain trilogy, but that's just about the only thing they have in
common. The events starting with this book take place "thousands" of
years after Kellen. There are some familiar faces, though, in the elven
community. This book reads quite like the Obsidian trilogy, and I do
like it, but probably because of the fact that it is a joint effort
between Ms. Lackey and James Mallory, it reads quite differently from
the books of Valdemar, Elemental Masters or Joust. All in all, though, I
did like it quite a bit. I'll give this one 3.5, but only because I feel
I can't rightly rate this as it is only a beginning -- I'll have to read
the whole trilogy before feeling comfortable giving it a final score.
