If there were strict eugenics laws, my granddaughters Emma and Elanor would never have been born. Their maternal grandmother has type I diabetes. Their mother doesn’t and neither does Emma. We have been Elanor’s caregivers for at least part of the day for almost five years now. I’ve checked her blood, counted her carbs, and given her shots thousands of times.
There is nothing I would take to have her out of my life.
I know three people with Down’s.
