Readers of the Rivers of London series might want to catch "Sinking Cities:
London," which aired on PBS this week. One segment is about the
tributaries of the Thames that were forced into tunnels in Victorian
times. When these small rivers get too much water for the tunnels, water
overflows into the Thames, making its problems worse. Now there are
projects to free small rivers from their tunnels, letting them flow on the
surface again with adjacent land that can absorb overflow. Sounds like a
potential plot for Aaronovitch.
