I did notice a strong parallel between Dag and Aral as well, given the
tragic backstory and the history of not being accepted by his family.
And, of course, the natural but reluctant leadership, as Gretchen said. But
also the willingness to completely upend the status quo. Aral and his Leper
Colony. Even his suggestion of making everyone Vor. If he hadn't been so
tied to his father, he may well have left Barrayar to be with Cordelia (if
possible), as Dag left his camp, though not solely for Fawn.
