I remember my mother and various girlfriend-types complaining about that.
When I asked why they didn't just build their own clothes to their own
specifications (they were all enthusiastic seamstresses) they looked at me
like I'd suggested running off to Albania with the secret nuclear plans.




If you go on tumblr or youtube you will find tutorials for adding pockets to garments, manyof them designed for people of minimal sewing skill.
