Why do Sf writers and many others use Sentient instead of Sapient?
Sentient means feeling. I’m certain that dog and cats and goldfish feel. They aren’t Sapient, that is thinking. In most SF that I’ve seen, when the author uses Sentient they actually mean Sapient.
